Welcome, to our church website. We trust that the Lord will bless you and your family.
The Samaritan's Closet
Love and Kindness Church distributes free monthly personal hygiene products as part of a program the church developed called, "The Samaritan's Closet," the third Saturday of each month from 8a.m. - 10am.
Monthly packages vary, but generally consist of toilet paper, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, laundry detergent and dish soap. Each family receives one package based upon the number of individuals within the household.
Over 1,000 individuals from Roane, Jackson, Calhoun, and Wirt Counties have benefit annually from the project. Since its inception, over 2,500 people have benefitted from the free project. We don't consider this a hand out, we consider it a hand up.
The Samaritan's Closet has occasionally had a few surprises in their distribution including cases of soda, and even Christmas and back-t0-school items.
The program began as an outreach to people who receive an EBT/Food stamp card, but was extended to anyone needing a hand. No proof of income is required. You may only pick up your package.
Those interested must complete a one page application at each distribution. Love and Kindness advertises through the local DHHR office. If you have questions about the distribution or if you need emergency assistance, please call Debbie Wagoner, project coordinator at (304) 927-2919. The effort is supported by fund raising efforts by the church. Debbie is assisted by Donna May and Chris Carter.
