We are busy preparing for tomorrow's one year anniversary service. We have a young lady coming from Ripley to minister with us in song. We will also have several within the church sing. The morning will begin with praise and worship followed by a reflection of where we have been over the last year and what the Lord has accomplished. Some of the praise and worship we will do includes the songs "Blessed be Your Name, Praise the Lord Everybody, Fire, and Lean on Me." We will have scripture reading and prayer. We will share plans for the coming year and then have a wonderful dinner provided by our Iron Chef team of Mary Webb and Evelyn Goodwin consisting of chicken and ham. Both Ministers Toby and Kat will speak tomorrow during the service. Come expecting to be blessed and if you are thinking about getting into church, or starting church for the first time as a family, we welcome you. Come and see Love and Kindness is more than our name, it's what we offer. We don't care about your past, we care about your future. We have some people that attend in jeans, some in business clothing, some in shorts, etc. You wear what you want. As long as it's descent, it's okay with us. The church doesn't hound people for money. We receive a morning offering only. No collection is received during the evening services. The church has been growing steadily and we are having good size crowds. Minister Kathryn and Toby are both voluntary leaders of the ministry which means they are not paid for their work. They do it for the love of the Lord. The folks that have come into the church are seeing that we're not like everybody else. Yes, we worshiping an upbeat atmosphere, surrounded by people that truly care about you is something special. Our music tends to be a little more loud than most because we have drums, tambourine, and guitars - and the sanctuary is small. Update: since our last post last Sunday morning, we didn't report that we had another person saved Sunday evening. That's a total of 3 in one weekend. Let us be clear, we don't drag people to the altar. We share the gospel and give an invitation. People respond on their own. They did. Praise the Lord. God has a plan. If you're thinking about becoming one of us, please remember that we don't consider those that attend church with us a congregation, we consider them part of the Ministry Team once they are saved. We still have room for your talents. Come and see what the Lord has done, is doing and will be doing... Gonna be awesome!
Please note: There will be no Sunday Night Service this week because of the extended morning celebration service.

Great service on Sunday! Two people got saved during the morning service. A great way to end our first year in Spencer. Next Sunday, the church will hold a special one-year anniversary service, with special singing and worship. There will be no evening service because of the extended service. Successes and challenges will be discussed next week service as well as plans for the next year. A huge dinner consisting of ham, chicken, vegetables, mashed potatoes, desserts, drinks and more will be served. Join us at 10 next week.

If we can ever get everyone to church on the same day, we're gonna be close to being full. Another three teenagers joined us for service this morning. We had two new adults to stop by Sunday night for a visit. Everyone reported having a good time. Special thanks to Iron Chefs Mary Webb and Evelyn Goodwin for our soup luncheon after church today. Bless you guys! Quick thought: It's amazing to see how people are truly reaching out for acceptance. Jesus made you unique, just the way he wanted. Love and Kindness wants to show you that Jesus loves you. Your uniqueness is what God wants from you. Whether it's teaching, shaking hands, or sending cards, there is work for you to do. We all don't have the same gifts, but we do have the same Lord. Most of all, Love and Kindness tries to teach people that serving God is personal and our worship experience is unique. It's what we call keeping it real. While some cry, some raise hands, some shout and some sit with their eyes closed, it's whatever makes you connect with God's holy presence. That's what we're all about. Thanks to those of you offering kind words about our sermons online. Peace & Love from Love and Kindness. We hope to see you soon!

Have you ever read the story of Hannah in the bible. She was truly heartbroken over not being able to have a child. I know people like that in real life and I can only imagine they feel somewhat of the same. Regardless, Hannah's story to us isn't so much about having children, than the having the desires of our heart. God wants to hear from you. He heard Hannah and answered. Here's Minister Toby and this week's online sermon. Enjoy the message we call, "Hannah's Reality." This message begins with a song from J'Nae Carter and Andrea Wagoner, with Jeff Carter on drums only. If you enjoy our messages, we always invite you to attend our regular services and hear the full sermons. We can only get you ten minutes on here.

Despite the heavy rain at times, the Labor Day Bass Tournament was held as scheduled and folks reportedly had a great time. The rain let up an hour or so into the tournament which gave the anglers enough time to reel in some fish. Many of the anglers caught two or more fish each. This year we saw the largest bass caught by in the tournament's history by Timmy Summers of Wallback (Clay County) weighing over 5.5 pounds and 22 inches long. "I've been around for a while and I've helped coordinate many tournaments at Charles Fork Lake and this was the biggest bass I've seen caught there," said Toby Wagoner, one of the tournament directors. "In case you're wondering, yes Steve released his nice catch back into the lake for the next angler to bag." Summers said he'll be back next year and bring some folks with us adding that even with the rain, it was a good day of fishing. Second place went to Steve Stalnaker of Wallback (Clay County) with a catch of 2.2 pounds and third was Travis Smith of Newton (Roane County) with a 2.0 pound bass. Michael Marks of Spencer caught a 2.14 bass which would have won third but it was dead at weigh-in. Tournament rules stipulate that the catch has to be alive to count. Marks who was a good sport, said he was going to eat him anyway. Only one person in the event did not catch anything, so that's considered a good day. Special thanks to all that entered! The kids fishing derby was held during some torrential downpours at times which may have led to the limited number of fish caught off the docks. No umbrellas could be used on the docks which made everyone soaking wet. Only three fish were caught during the derby two by a boy and one by a girl. We are still finalizing names and numbers for the event, and everything will be posted online no later than 10pm Tuesday night. Special thanks to the City of Spencer, WVRC Radio, Roane General Hospital and Wal-Mart for sponsoring this REACT event. For tournament details, winners and photos, click here. All pictures should by posted by Tuesday evening at 10 p.m. Check back for full photos.

This Sunday's lessons were fantastic. Toby's morning sermon was on "Blessings and Curses" taken from Deuteronomy 28. Minister Kat had the evening sermon entitled, Are you Washed in the Blood?" and used scriptures from Romans Chapter 8. It was nice crowd and a super dinner after church. We want to remind everyone that coming up on Labor Day we will be hosting the City of Spencer Bass Tournament and Kid's Fishing Derby at Charles for Lake. Click here for details. Now, we want to post Minister Kat's Sunday School lesson from last week on Being a Willing Workers using Ants as the example. Nice little sermon and worth the few minutes worth of watching. Click on the video below and it should start as soon as it's loaded. It might take a couple of minutes depending on your Internet speed.

Here is Toby's sermon on realizing we are transparent as Christians. God sees the good and the bad in all of us. Enjoy! A new video with Minister Kat will be posted later this week.

We had great services last Sunday. Minister Kat taught on the wisest creature in the bible - the ant. You can read it for yourselves at Proverbs 30:24-28. Hats off to Minister Kat for this one. Great lesson! It was amazing as most everyone did not know that the bible dedicated a few verses to the little ant. It kind of made you think twice about stepping on the next one. It is really is amazing to see what's in the bible if we would only read it. Toby's sermons on Sunday were on the "Transparent Christian" Sunday morning using scripture from Timothy, and then "Is there anything to big for God?" using scripture from Jeremiah. We had an anointing at the end of the service was which was spirit filled. It's nice to know that when someone wants to be anointed as indicated in the book of James, they can be. How many times do we miss a healing for not claiming God's promises. We will try and post the Transparent Christian sermon this week.

Here is another video sermon this time it's Toby. His sermon looks at Job chapter 1. You won't get the whole message, but you do get a thought provoking 10 minutes. Enjoy. Tell us what you think of the message. toby@loveandkindnesschurch.com Remember, if you enjoy the messages come on out to Love and Kindness. We're a small church but we have room for you. The live and in person service is so much better than any video can portray. We will be posting some praise and worship later.

Thank You Jesus! We have our first video sermon posted. We have decided to go away from audio sermons and move to video sermons. Why? Because if you are going to listen to the program you might as well enjoy the feeling inside the church. We are only posting 5-7 minute clips because of the time needed to download the video. Enjoy. Toby's will be posted next. Tell us what you think of the quality? toby@loveandkindnesschurch.com

Minister Kat is on call and will be working at her full time job as a nurse this weekend, so Toby will have both services. There will be no morning sermon, just the Sunday School lesson and then preaching Sunday night. We hope to have a great time and enjoy worshipping the Lord. The Samaritan's Closet will be open tomorrow on Saturday from 10-noon at the church. Free personal hygiene products for those needing a hand. Come early as supplies are limited. Remember, you may receive one package per household. Each person must complete an application onsite. You must be present to pick up your items. You are not permitted to pick up a package for someone else. We consider the Samaritan's Closet a hand up, not a hand out. So don't be embarrassed to stop by if you need some help. We've all been there.
We have a busy two months ahead for the church. Here's a quick glance.
Future events: Samaritan's Closet Tomorrow (Aug 15th) Concessions During City of Spencer Downtown Sale at the end of August REACT Labor Day Fishing Tournament w/ City of Spencer Black Walnut Festival in October (Toby will emcee the Grand Parade)
The calendar has been updated for August - October 2009.

Revival Camp Photos Moved Here
Special thanks to Spring Heights & the counselors there for making Revival Camp 2009 everything and more than we had hoped. Two live bands, an illusionist, a ton of activities and great messages. Approximately 80 people took part and had a great time. No one complained! Mission accomplished.
