Labor Day Kids Fishing Derby
The event is free to all children age 12 and under. One girl and one boy will win a bicycle.

In all 53 fish were
caught in the 40 minute event. Two rounds of fishing were held.
Each angler got to fish for only 20 minutes.

fish in 20 minutes and Culann caught 11. Culann tied another boy
Ryan Smith with 11 on the day but lost out on a drawing as indicated in the
rules. Ryan had won the last two years and set a fishing record with
9 fish.
Brenlee is now the record holder with 12 caught.
Registration for the 2011 Kids Fishing
Derby is held at Charles Fork Lake beginning at 11 a.m. and will close at 11:50
a.m.
Rules for the event:
(The dock will be closed until the derby begins)
1. Open to all children age 12 and under
2. Must be accompanied by an adult, with a fishing license. We do not check for license. If DNR is present, they might.
3. Life jackets are not required for children but are strongly recommended because the water is very deep.
4. A drawing is used to determine dock sitting placements.
5. Should more children enter than dock space, a second or third round may be held
6. The child must do the fishing, casting, etc. The adult must bait the hook and remove fish.
7. Each child must bring their own pole and their own bait.
8. Once you are seated you are not allowed to stand up or move until the event is over.
9. Any size fish counts.
10. A R.E.A.C.T. representative will be seated at the far end of the dock for safety purposes.
11. You may register your children anytime from 11 a.m. -11:50 a.m. A mandatory safety meeting is held prior to the derby.
12. Last year the event was held during the rain. As long as it's not storming, the event will likely be held.
13. The bike is a one size / one style. There are no refunds or exchanges.
